Things to check before you buy APX 6000 accessories

  • APX 6000 or APX 6000XE? Most accessories on this page are listed for both, but not every item is. Check the model name on the label under the battery.
  • Hazardous locations: “UL HazLoc-capable” accessories are only approved with specific UL-approved APX radios. Your radio’s manual lists the approved combinations. Motorola states that the radio and battery are approved together as a system.
  • Firmware: The UL batteries PMNN4547 and PMNN4573 need radio firmware R25.01.00 or later for an accurate fuel gauge. The PMNN4891 clamshell needs R36.01.00 or later.
  • Charging and warranty: Motorola gives IMPRES 2 batteries a 24-month capacity warranty when they are charged only in IMPRES 2 chargers, and 18 months otherwise.
  • Fuel gauge accuracy: Motorola recommends calibrating IMPRES 2 batteries every 28 days.
  • Public safety microphones need a separate PSM antenna and do not support VHF.

Frequently asked questions

Which battery comes with the APX 6000?

Motorola lists the PMNN4485 IMPRES 2 Li-ion 2550 mAh battery as the standard shipping battery for the APX 6000.

Do APX 7000 batteries fit the APX 6000?

Yes for the main IMPRES 2 packs. PMNN4485, PMNN4486, PMNN4487 and PMNN4494 are listed for the APX 6000, APX 6000XE, APX 7000, APX 7000XE and APX 8000 in Motorola’s catalog.

Do APX 6000 accessories fit the APX 6000XE?

Most of them do. Nearly every battery, charger, speaker microphone and surveillance kit on this page is listed for both the APX 6000 and the APX 6000XE. A few items are listed for specific models only, so check the part number against your radio before you order.

Can I use an earpiece without a speaker microphone?

Yes. Surveillance kits such as PMLN6123–PMLN6130 and the PMLN6125/PMLN6126 receive-only earpieces plug directly into the radio’s accessory connector.

Will a 2-pin earpiece from a CP200d fit the APX 6000?

No. Two-pin earpieces made for radios such as the CP200d use a different connector and are not listed as compatible with the APX 6000.
